I too have been meaning to watch One Night in Miami- Netflix?

Kate this was good. The way people throw around MLK’s name for their personal gain is disgusting. Anyone ever notice how some of your most conservative Facebook friends who post the Why I Love President Trump commentaries on Facebook also always post references to something MLK said. Something just doesn’t compute. Is it out of guilt or do they truly believe in what MLK stood for?

Carole I watched it last night and it was so good, though it also broke my heart. The actors are all wonderful. My theory about the "why" of MLK posting is that 1) people use it as a talisman, ie you can't call me racist because I like MLK and 2) because it's safe to embrace something that no longer exists. There's a scene in Meet the Parents (a movie I didn't love btw) when the daughter says to Robert DeNiro, "You only started liking [Owen Wilson's character whose name I can't remember] after we broke up. You've never liked anyone WHILE I was with them."

Yep I totally agree. They also like to quote JFK and say something about “even though he was a Democrat” when they don’t have a clue about anything JFK did. Where did you watch One Night in Miami. Is it Netflix?

Love all your writings but this is one of the best! And yes, Trump's behavior the last two months have shown his true colors to anyone who still, despite all evidence to the contrary, still chose to follow and believe. Thanks for sharing. (We watched "One Night In Miami" this weekend. Powerful. Sad.)
