Full Moon Lunar Eclipse Election Day Nailbiter
I could eat a dozen cookies or write this newsletter
Now listen Maxine, this ain’t no ordinary election.

Hello from the right coast where there are still 5 hours to vote, which means where some of you live, there’s practically a whole day left! I have been working on a little thing for this newsletter, but it’s not ready yet, so today I’m just sharing a few resources in the hope that if you’re voting for Democrats you’ll get out and do it and if you’re voting for Republicans, you’ll change your mind.
I used to be a Republican. I voted for Reagan twice (with no inquiry whatsoever about how his policies would actually impact the country). I read every right wing writer and declared myself pro-life, and was in favor of small government and big tax breaks and all that used to go along with that party in America.
The Bible says if you sow to the wind, you’ll reap the whirlwind, and I believe that’s exactly where those unexamined policies have led us. The Supreme Court is tainted. Election officials refuse to do their jobs. Marjorie Taylor Greene is pure chaos, tells lies at a breathtaking rate, and a member of Congress! My gay friends are fearful that their marriages won’t be recognized or their children taken away. Men who have no idea about the female reproductive system have put women in a vise and are tightening it. And, as usual, the people who will suffer most are the poor. Please stand up and resist this bullying. May we rejoice tomorrow in our freedom, rather than mourn all that is lost.
Some food for thought—-
Here’s someone who decided to follow his conscience rather than the party line. A hero!
Here’s Bill Penzey once again, begging for people to wake up to what’s happening. In Wisconsin, the GOP is attempting to implement a system where they have absolute control.
Maybe you don’t know the history of the “Pro-Life” movement. It began as a way to amass power because the previous cause du jour - segregation - was beginning to turn people off and Jerry Falwell Sr didn’t want to lose the momentum/money that was rolling in. This article about the history of the movement is FASCINATING. It’s also true, which is something I know because I once heard Frank Schaeffer (who was part of the founding of the Moral Majority along with his father Francis Schaeffer) say this exact thing—it was never about “the babies.” It was about “the power.”
The data collection for abortion is extensive, and it tells us year over year that Christians and professed pro-lifers have abortions at the same rate as folks who are pro-choice. If we care about babies, let’s start by letting women make their own decisions and focusing on the babies we already have, because according to our country’s budget, we don’t care about them at all.
Also, lol at the GOP being a party for the common person. Here’s a vote tracker that’s been fact checked so you can see. If you’re looking for that party, check out the Working Families Party which actually is for the people.
Finally, let’s end on a laugh. Here’s a woman talking to men (I LOVE MEN DON’T GET ME WRONG THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD MEN FIGHTING FOR THE RIGHTS OF US ALL THERE ARE JUST SO MANY OTHERS TRYING TO DO BAD THINGS) and men answering in ways that make me think anatomy should be a required class.
And finally, please pretend this Italian toddler is describing for you the hellscape that a GOP controlled country will create and begging you to vote Democrat. Actually, just read the translation and think about that too. You don’t like my mini-skirt, Anna? Mind ya business!
I may still eat a dozen cookies, but talking to y’all definitely helped. Love you!
Kate
